What is an LTR Regular? To book onto our 'Regulars' you must be capable of running at a steady pace on tricky terrain for 2 hours or more. Unless you are a confident and frequent trail runner we please ask you to try our most accommodating 'Intro' run or at least one of our 'Tasters' first - we can then advise whether stepping up to one of our Regulars would be appropriate for you.

What's the route?

The group will meet at 9.15am outside the hotel before a 20min walk into Glenridding ready to board the 9.45am 'Ullswater 'Steamer' (not included). This will take us the entire length of Ullswater stopping at the northern point of Pooley Bridge. From here starts an amazing day on the trails.

Stage 1 (21.2km's - Half-Marathon) Est time: 2 hours 45mins +

The route will start out on Dunmallard Hill, then towards Barton Park, it will then pass Auterstone Wood and Raven Crag before coming out at Howtown. From there the route will take in lower parts of Hallin Fell, offering stunning views out over Ullswater. We then head into the magnificent Hallinhag Wood. Next the route passes another wood off Birk Fell before arriving at Silver Crag. From there we take a bridle path on lower parts of Patterdale Common before running alongside Goldrill Beck that conveniently takes us back to the Patterdale Hotel.

SHORT STOP (packed lunch provided)

This will give all runners the opportunity to quickly freshen up and take some real food on, or they have the option to cut the day short and put their feet up. Those who are keen for more can get back out on a new trail for the next stage.

Stage 2 (11.8km) Est time: 90 mins +

The route will re-start with Stage 2 and cross Goldrill Beck, head up toward Patterdale Common, onto Rooking, travelling beneath Rake Crag, across Angle Tarn Beck and into Hartsop. We will then pass the serene Brotherswater and head towards Cora Crag, the route then takes us along a scenic track passing on the other side of Brotherswater, through Low Wood, up to How End, down to Bridgend and back to the Patterdale Hotel once again to complete stage 2.

This will give all runners the opportunity to quickly freshen up or to cut the day a little short and put their feet up. Those who are up for the challenge of completing our full route can get back out on a new trail for the 3rd and final stage.

Stage 3 (9.2km) Est time: 75mins +

Stage 3 will head towards Glenridding, the route then takes in the stunning Waterfall Wood, up through Grisedale towards Eagle Crag, down through the Plantation Wood beneath Birkes Crag and onto Deepdale Common before finally finishing back at the Hotel.
