We're pleased to say everyone who came on our LTR #Snowdon weekend would join us in saying it definitely didn't disappoint. Everyone met at Lodge Dinorwig on Saturday morning, which would also be our accommodation for the evening. After a short drive to Llanberis the group set out in good spirits despite the grey skies. During the first two hours the route headed over to Rhyd Ddu taking in an ascent of a mountain pass and a variety of trails, including a lovely pine forest which was definitely off the beaten track. After a cafe stop in #RhydDdu for some refreshments, the long ascent of Snowdon began, and unfortunately so did the rain. Everyone was embracing the challenge well, but as we continued the conditions deteriorated drastically so with still a way to go to the summit the howling winds, falling temperature and poor visibility forced the group to go back down. While it was a shame not to be able to complete the ascent, safety had to be the primary consideration and a contingency route was put in place. Everyone enjoyed some new trails as we made our way back over to #Llanberis and took in #PadarnCastle to complete a tough but glorious 30km of off road running. In the afternoon the weather actually brightened up a lot and the views were spectacular, and frustratingly the cloud eventually cleared from the top of the mountain, after it was too late. A quick shower and freshen up and everyone was enthusiastic for a social, relaxing evening meal, despite tired legs. The meal was enjoyable and the portions very generous! After a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast in Dinorwig Lodge it was time for day two. The route had a different feel with much softer ground underfoot and more intricate trails. It made a nice contrast and after a few stiff legs to start it was another enjoyable 13km on the trails around Dinorwig, finishing at the fantastic Caffi Caban for a well earned lunch. Feedback received was very positive with some already looking forward to venturing back for another adventure with us - hopefully on a nicer day!
