After a week of almost solid rain the trails for LTR80 Ribchester were very muddy and slippery. Pleasingly, after just five minutes of running the rain eased off and gave way to a bright, sunny September morning. The route headed out in a North-Westerly direction from the Roman village of Ribchester, passing Parsonage Farm and Ox Hey. Runners were guided through some farmland and sections of wooded trails to reach Alston before joining the Ribble Way alongside the River Ribble which was running high and fast after the recent rain. The route returned passing some beautiful homes and buildings including Hothersall Hall and the historic Ribchester Church. Several of the group stayed on after the 15km run and enjoyed a drink at the warm and welcoming Potters Barn Cafe.
