The forecast snow for this weekend didn't disappoint for those braving the weather for LTR87 #Helmshore. Today's keen but wary group assembled on the car park and were soon getting warmed up in the cold weather after a steep start up Hollin Bank and Sunny Bank. The route headed towards #Stubbins and #Ramsbottom taking in some fantastic woodland trails such as those in Ox Hey Wood and Top Wood. Runners were then guided over #BeetleHill, round the head of #AldenBrook and across the edge of the distinctive #TorHill which looked beautiful in the fresh snow. The weather see-sawed between flurries of snow and clearer periods where there were some great views of the surrounding, snow-covered hills. The icy conditions made some sections treacherous underfoot but the group all enjoyed the snow in what was a great couple of hours of escapism. We're grateful to #CafeTor in the #MusberyMillShop for kindly letting us use the WCs before the run, and those who could stay enjoyed a lovely bite to eat in the cafe and a hot drink to warm up after the 16km on the trails. The weather certainly seemed to get a few people in the spirit for next weekend's Christmas Cracker half marathon from #Chipping.
