A glorious, clear, sunny winter day made for perfect conditions for the LTR Winter Half Marathon. With hardly a cloud in the sky the group set out from the meeting point at the Keswick Hotel (next to Fitz Park) for the scenic 21km route. Runners were guided along some intricate trails taking in Castlerigg, Walla Crag, shores or Derwent water, Lodore and climbing Cat Bells for a well earned drink stop before a technical descent into the Newlands valley. The route returned to Keswick via Skelgill, Swinside, Portinscale, over the Stormwater Bridge, passing Keswick School and the Hospital before a last min request for a quick lap of the BMX track slightly delayed our arrival back at Fitz Park. The run went down a treat and everyone agreed it was a great way to start 2017!
