Trail Running Weekend – Forest of Bowland AONB

March 1st – March 3rd 2019 (3 places remaining as of 11.2.2019)

The ‘Forest of Bowland AONB’

The entire Forest of Bowland AONB covers 312 square miles of rural Lancashire and adjacent Yorkshire and is a truly captivating part of the English countryside. Expanses of sky above dramatic sweeps of open moorland, gentle and tidy lowlands, criss-crossed with dry stone walls and dotted with picturesque farms and villages, all waiting to be explored! There is no better way of escaping from the hustle and bustle of everyday life than partaking in some of the most breathtaking, peaceful and remote, guided trail running in the country.

Our eagerly anticipated 'Forest of Bowland' Trail Running Weekend begins on Friday 1st March. We have options for those needing accommodation, but some runners who live within easy travelling distance will want to kip in their own beds, and that’s fine with us. Either way, if it suits, you’ll be very welcome to join the first of our weekend’s guided runs, an easy 7km off-road route, on Friday afternoon. If you’re stopping in Barrowford, check in, drop your gear off and we’ll hit the trails. Alternatively you can meet up later in the evening for the second: a fantastic 10km head-torch run in Sabden, which is right in the heart of Pendle Witch Country. Post run, we'll head to the fabulous White Hart Pub because we’ll have worked up a good appetite by then.

After a hearty breakfast, Saturday will begin with us taking a short drive to the historical village of Sawley. Once there, we’ll quickly get started with our third run: part one of our marathon adventure. After 21km of cracking trails, we will arrive back in Barrowford. We'll put on a great spread for lunch, then after a short rest, we’ll jump back on the trails to start our fourth run: another fantastic 21km adventure. Before you know it, we'll have completed a full marathon route and arrived back in Sawley. After a swift 'recovery' drink in the Spread Eagle, we'll transport you back. Once back at our accommodation, everyone can freshen up & head to a local restaurant for a well-earned evening meal.

Sunday will see another hearty breakfast, setting us up nicely for the last of our guided trail runs. After a scenic drive, we'll arrive at picturesque Dunsop Bridge for the fifth and final off-road adventure – our 'Journey to the Centre of the UK'.

You can reward yourself for the morning's efforts with a great lunch in the fab Puddleducks cafe before heading off home or coming back to relax at our accommodation*.
